Happy Home

I hate to be "that pregnant chick" but man oh man, I'm so tired! It's getting tougher and tougher to wake up in the morning and get going. On second thought, that might have something to do with the incredibly sexy man lying next to me....hmmm.....

Here we are, 23 weeks, 2 days along in the pregnancy. 58.5% done with 117 more days to go. Besides feeling tired, everything is great. Ok, it takes me a little longer to get out of the car or out of my chair, and I kind of have that waddle thing going on, but not too much. I was getting worried because I felt no movement from the Cub for over a week and he had been pretty active before. But as soon as we moved into the house, he has been having a party in there. Jumping jacks, somersaults, flips, the whole bit. I haven't felt a hard kick yet, but that should be coming any day now. He's pretty happy to have a place to call home, and even has his own room! Granted, said room is packed full of boxes right now, but it's his room none the less.

Am I supposed to have certain things figured out by now? I read in magazines and blogs that by now, expectant Mom's have a name picked out, colors, a theme for the room. They have registered for baby shower items, signed up for their lamaze classed and practically have their hospital stay suitcase packed. Um, yea. I'm a little slow on the uptake I guess because out of all the above things I mentioned, I have done..well...none. And the funny thing is, I'm ok with that. I don't feel panicked or rushed. I think I'm just going at my own pace. There are so many other things that have been consuming my mind and time for the past 3 months that I just don't think I have given it much thought. But now with things slowly coming together, I might just be able to start crossing things off the baby-to-do list.

The top priority on that list was find a place to live. Roger that, 10-4, big check mark next to this line item! Yay! Is it weird that I'm still totally giddy about our new digs? It's our little diamond in the rough. We got all the kitchen stuff unpacked on Sunday night and went through all the boxes in the dining room area. We have definitely made some progress. Last night we made our first big shopping trip and now with food in the house, it's starting to feel a lot like home. The two doggies (shar-peis) are enjoying their new surroundings and as you can see from the photo, love lying in the sun and taking a nap.

There is still a lot of unpacking to do and things to be hung, organized and put in it's place, but I love the Jungle House and know it will all come together soon. There is a real sense of calm there. No need to have everything perfect, which in hindsight I think I felt in the past. I love that the house is old and not a whole lot matches. There are chips in the paint and the bedroom door has a major creak when you open it. It's totally different from my last place. I loved that place, but this is a whole other world, a whole other vibe. More laid back. More chill. More happy zen land.

I'm happy here.

  2. I am so proud of you for knowing what you want and going for it! You inspire me, Skillet! I can't wait to hang out at the new place, make trips to 88 liquor, and stagger home from Westside! That baby cub (Little Mello) is going to have the coolest house (and parents!) on the block!!! Yay!!!! :)
