Happiness on a Carousel
Rob was in Phoenix this weekend so I decided to take Dom to South Coast Plaza. He loves going on the carousel and thought it would be a fun treat for him. We usually go to Westminster Mall, so he was super excited when he saw that the carousel was a fancy one with beautifully painted horses.
As soon as it was our turn, Dom ran over to the horse he wanted to ride. I usually hold him while it goes up and down, but this time he wanted to do it on his own. He proudly held onto the pole all by himself and was laughing and giggling as we spun around and around. He pretended he was Woody from "Toy Story" and shouted "yee haw cowboy!"
It was so cute to see him get so giddy over something so simple. Sometimes I forget that the little things can be a total thrill for him. It's so much fun to be reminded of this through his eyes.

LOVE
Dom woke
up this morning and as I was getting him dressed, he crawled into my lap and
said “Mama, I love you SO much.” There
is nothing better on this earth than hearing my son say those words to me.

Back to regular programming
Now that
I’m back on my feet, Dom seems to be doing so much better at bedtime. He tells me “mama, I’m gonna cry in my bed”
and I just tell him, “ok baby, if that’s what you want to do.” He doesn’t really cry anymore when I put him
down, and if he does, it’s for about 5 minnutes. Man, I’m hoping that weird little phase is
over with because that was tough on my emotionally.

Sick as a Dog
Being sick
sucks big time. I had bronchitis for
almost two weeks and I’m so glad it’s over.
The first week I was still able to function. I went to work, took care of Dom, did all the
things I usually do. The 2nd
week it took over my body and I was down for the count. I got up at 6:30am every morning to get Dom
ready for school and make his lunch and then Rob would take him and pick him
up. I spent my days in bed, hacking up a
lung and shivering from head to toe. It
was awful. I usually get sick once a
year, so let’s hope that was it. Thank goodness I am feeling back to
normal. Now I just need to get back into
my routine of work, cooking, laundry etc.

Don't Cry for Me Argentina
Dom is
having some big time separation anxiety right now. I have been sick all week so
Rob has been taking him to school and picking him up. When it’s time for bed, he screams and cries
for me, and it rips my heart out. I know
I can’t give in to him, he’s ok. But to
hear him screaming “Mama, I miss you, Maaama, come here Mama, I need youuuu!”
is almost too much to handle. I have had
to resort to putting on noise reducing headphones until he falls asleep. This week has been rough and he has cried in
his bed for up to an hour before falling asleep. I hate that he’s so sad and that I can’t just go
into his room and make it all better.
But I have to be strong. Being
strong sucks sometimes.

House Party
Last night was one for the books. We celebrated Rob's 35th birthday by having a small get together at the house, and it turned into an epic night of beer pong, flip cup and non stop dancing. I LOVE when that happens!
Rob requested three things for his party. Pizza, wings and ice cream cake. I made sure to have all that, plus homemade chocolate dipped oreo's on a stick, Oreo and peanut butter cup cupcakes, plenty of beer and appetizers and of course our closest friends. The coolest thing about having our closest froends there is that it tured out to be mostly our own family. I LOVE when that happens too!
Rob installed speakers in the backyard and set it up so i could control the music from my phone. I got to play DJ all night and let me you, people were dancing from the start to the end. It was awesome! We had twinkly lights hung up around the yard, a fire pit going in the middle, and the fun just kept coming. It was one of those nights that you can't plan. It just happens. And whoever was lucky enough to be there got experiance the magic.

Mr.Popular
Dom has a lot of friends at his school. Not that Iever doubted it, he's a cool kid. But it's nice to see how many friends he really has. When I pick him up from school, they all say "Bye Dominic!" As we're walking to the car, Dom will turn around and yell "Bye Noah, Bye Caden, Bye Hailey!"
It's moments like that when I realize how grown up he really is. I used to pick him up and carry him in and out of day care. When he started pre school in January, he became a little more independent, but I still had to be right there with him. Now when I pick him up, he goes to his cubby, gets his lunchbox and hoodie and walks to the car with me. He climbs up into his car seat and starts to tell me about his day.
It's all happening so fast...I can't believe he's going to be three in July.
