Cub and couches and corden Bleu, oh my!

I had a doctors appointment yesterday afternoon and the best part is Rob got to come with me:) Because we have been living in different states up to now, he hadn't been able to come before. He got to hear the Cubs heartbeat and meet Dr. Diaz. It felt really good to have him there with me.

Once we got home we did a little work around the house, unpacked some boxes, hung some curtains. It's starting to look pretty good:) I got a call about some free couches I found on Craigslist so we picked up Josh and went to go grab them up. On the way there, we were throwing out possible reasons why they were free, because in the ad they looked to be in pretty good condition. Did someone die on them? Would we know if they did? Maybe they are the worlds most uncomfortable couches? The main suspicion was a nasty smell of some kind. Maybe a pet smell? Body odor? Poop? I took on the very important but highly underrated job of being the couch sniffer once we got there. If they had even a slight odor, we would turn around and walk out the door empty handed. But maybe, just maybe, they were good couches with no foul odor and no dead guy residue.

Once we got there I sniffed, I sat, I tested, I approved! They're not the newest couches in the whole world, and the ottoman is a totally different color, but they're free! And truth be told, pretty comfy. And now on to why they were free. The girl explained that she had moved into the apartment and they were left there by the previous tenant. She has her own couches so needed to get rid them so hers would fit. She placed them on Craigslist for $100, then $80 then $60 but people were flaky and said they'd come by but didn't. She was tired of the hassle so posted them from free and bam! We picked them up that night.

You're wondering why the previous tenant left them there in the first place aren't you? Well, it's because the apartment is located on the second floor. With no elevator. Good times. But Rob and Josh didn't even blink an eye. No grumbling, no frustration. Smiles on faces the whole time. Within 5 minutes they had both couches and the ottoman loaded up in the truck and we were on our way home! Yay!

Once we finally made it back to the Jungle House it was almost 8:30pm and we were starving. As they unloaded the couches and Rob dropped Josh back at home...guess what I did? Ok by the title of this blog and the picture to the left, I'm sure you have figured it out. But without those clues, I'm sure you're first thought would have been either a) flop down on new-to-us couch and watch some tv or b) go grab some food for us from somewhere down the street. Well, you'd be wrong! I did neither of those things. Instead, I made dinner. Again. I know, I know. Chicken Cordon Bleu with steamed veggies, baked potato and salad. Ok, I admit, the chicken cordon bleu was frozen from Sams Club, but still...pretty good right? I really should have taken the photo after I put the sour cream and cheese on the potato, it's looking a little on the dry side, but it was good, trust me:)
