Dom's Spidey Birthday Party

Today was Dom’s 3rd birthday party!  The theme was Spiderman (his choice) and everything went so well.  I felt like we were much more organized this year.  I also felt a lot less stressed.  Maybe I’m just finally getting the hang of it.

I pre made most of the food the night before.  I made tie dye (red and blue) Spiderman cupcakes along with a bunch of other appetizers and snacks like fresh veggies and dips.  It definitely helped to have it done the day before because then I wasn’t rushing around like a mad woman.

My parents got him an awesome gift.  Spiderman himself came to the party and played games with the kids, like hide and go seek.  He also did face painting, which I thought he was totally terrible at.  Truth be told, he wasn’t very good.  But the kids, especially Dom, loved it, so I can’t complain too much.

Of course we had the traditional piñata which is always fun.  When it finally got cracked open, my Mum basically trampled several small children to scoop up the candy and toys for herself.  You gotta love her.

Matt came and had a good time.  He had emailed Rob prior, so I guess they worked out whatever they needed too.  It honestly felt so natural for him to be there and hanging out with us again.

Dom had an awesome time playing on the playground.  He wasn’t a big fan of the sand in his shoes but he was having so much fun, it didn’t bother him too much.
We had a great turn out, about 40 people.  Family, friends and kids that all came to celebrate Dominic turning three.  It was really nice to look around the park and see how much love we have surrounding us.

This was my favorite birthday party so far.  I think maybe because now that Dom is a bit older, I don’t have to be watching him like a hawk, or be holding him the whole time.  He was happy to scamper off to the swings or the slide and run around with his cousins and friends.  And that’s really nice thing about having it at Shiffer Park every year.  The playground is right next to the shelter so he gets a little freedom, but I can still see him at all times.  The best of both worlds.

I’m so happy that he had a good time at his party and everyone else did too.
